I went to the yakiniku restaurant "Yamano" for lunch today, across from the SHOSEN BOOK TOWER. It was smaller than I'd expected, but it was well-kept and free of smoke. In fact, lunchtime was strictly non-smoking until 1 PM, so I think a woman would have no trouble entering alone.
I ordered the restaurant's signature dish, the skirt steak bowl set with extra rice, and only had to wait ten minutes before getting my steaming dish. Beef skirt steak has a flexibility to it, and the soft texture of the A5 Wagyu meat is complimented perfectly by Yamano's special sauce. The sauce itself is less thick than other yakiniku places', allowing the steak's natural sweetness through. On the other hand, I couldn't help but feel that the side salad and miso soup were a touch too salty.
I recommend going to this restaurant around lunchtime if you want to taste A5 Wagyu beef on a budget. If you feel there's not enough meet, you can order extra or double, so don't hesitate to ask the staff!
